Getting lost tacks on at least a 1/2 mile.
I don’t know about you, but I always have a hard time making friends. I’m one quirky individual who doesn’t always like showing my true colors to everyone I meet. Fortunately for me I found a really fabulous bestie out here and on Friday I ran to her house. Tracy lives a whopping 10 miles from me and after getting slightly turned around it turned into 10.5 miles! I got up (bright and) early at 5am, hopped in the shower and took off at exactly 5:40am. My mom and dad won’t be happy to read this, but it was terribly dark for the first 45 minutes. At dawn though I ran right past my roomies’ favorite bar, The Other Side. I couldn’t help but stop and take a quick picture.

All in all the run really wasn’t that bad. I haven’t done 10 miles in a month or so, but I felt really strong and finished it with no problem. It’s funny how when you run more you start looking at it in a different light. I remember a little less than a year ago I would struggle through 30 minutes. When I woke up Friday I thought, “Ok, you have less than 2 hours of running in front of you. You can totally do it!” In fact, I was quite surprised when I arrived at Tracy’s street! I couldn’t believe I was already there. NOTHING is better than that feeling. In the middle of my run I saw the awesome “Sunset Junction” sign and literally took this picture while running. Turned out pretty good!
Tracy completed my (and her!) first half marathon this June and we are doing another one in October. She is my PERFECT running partner. I hope that anyone who wants to run one day finds a perfect running partner just like her. When we ran a 10k back in January we ran in pace the entire time. Every time we run together, we finish together. I’m awful at being pushed to exercise, but I’m a great pusher. Tracy could honestly do anything athletic, but a majority of the time doesn’t want to (I usually hear, “I’m walking now!” “I’m stopping at this light.” “Why are you forcing me to do this?!”) However, no matter what ridiculous thing I ask her to do, (run 11 miles under the 4pm sun, run 2 miles to and from a rigorous aerobic class, etc.) she always does it. This is mainly because Tracy is one amazing person. She always has a smile on her face, is incredible at her job, is generous beyond belief and is all around the best friend a girl could ask for. We recently got extra close and I swear I feel like I started loving Los Angeles once I started hanging out with her. You can’t help but love life when Tracy is around.
Today she turns 24. I baked her sugar cookies (of which she finished by 5pm today), but I will also wish her a happy, happy birthday right here….HAPPY BIRTHDAY TRACY! Love you!
